Ice-Shark - Leki Shark Glove Converter for Durston Iceline trekking poles
I love my Durston Iceline Poles, but I also really like the security, comfort and effortless clip-in, clip-out action of the Leki Shark gloves system. The trail running-style glove system lets you move seamlessly between using the poles in strapped and strapless modes, freeing a hand for a scrambly section, to eat or to walk without poles for a whiel without faffing with dangling straps.
So I made a converter that fits into the strap slot of the Durston Iceline poles and lets you use the Leki Shark range of gloves. The glove loop slides onto the spike just like the Shark attachment, but rather than a hinged latch holding it in place the compressible foam of the handle holds the pole in place. The glove loop slides out easily when you push on the top of the pole with your thumb or pull the pole away with your other hand.
As an added bonus, the spike gives you an excellent guy line notch for using your poles for tarp supports
The Ice-Shark is 3D printed from Carbon Fiber reinforced polyamide and weighs 6g for the pair.
To install:
- push out the plastic pin holding in the pole strap from the narrower head side being careful not to lose the pin (a Ti shepherd hook tent stake works well for this)
- pull out a the strap,
- insert the square section of the Ice-Shark into the empty slot, spike pointing upwards
- reinsert the plastic pin, until it clicks into place (a hard surface like the back of a spoon can he helpful for this)
Sold in pairs. Iceline poles and Leki Shark Gloves not included. Note only compatible with the strapped version of the Iceline poles
